Firstly we thank the people of this land, the Warthorong Tribe for giving us this opportunity to express our culture on their beautiful land.                                                                                              We are Geelong's Maori Community, brought together to learn, teach and share our proud culture.Te Arahina welcomes you to come along and join us in Mau Rakau- Maori Martial Arts (see culture page), Kapahaka (Song and Dance), Te Reo (The Language), and whakapapa (Family Geneology) or be enthralled in stories and plays of our Myths and Legends. We at Te Arahina focus our strengths on giving to our children, for they are our gift that we nurture to keep our cultures kaupapa alive and showing the wider community our cultural traditions. We join to celebrate some of our national days- Waitangi Day, ANZAC Day and Matariki- Maori New Year. As a small roopu (group) we are fortunate enough to have had, and have some specially talented whanau (family) help us on our journey, nurturing and teaching our culture. We gain strength in each others confidence and voluntary mahi (work) that is put in through the committee and each other, this helps sustain our love for a culture which at some stage of our lives may have been foriegn or lost to us. Come down and check us out
